一、over
over是最普遍的表示 。游戲結束大家都知道是”game over”，老師一遍又一遍重復知識點是over and over again，over作為形容詞也能表示“結束的，上面的”意思 。還有一種普遍的用法就是在使用對講機的時候說“OVER!OVER!”表示告訴對方收到消息，結束對話 。

2.The reception is over at 6：00pm finally.
招待會最后在傍晚六點結束 。
二、end
end經常用在作文的結尾，come to an end或者In the end，表示“最后” 。它著重事情的完成，也指某種活動因為達到目的而自然結束或突然中止，適用范圍和over一樣廣泛 。End的名詞形式也表示“結束，盡頭” 。田徑比賽中end point就是終點的意思 。
1.We ate a piece of vanilla souffle as the end of this meal.

三、finish
通常finish表示完成了…事情，它的名詞也表示結束，終止 。finish+doing sth. 表示結束做某事 。多指結束一件大事里的小部分工作，圓滿地結束或完成著手的事情 。常用的詞組有finish line(終點線)，finish up(徹底完成)等等 。
1.I have finished the first part of my paper, but I don’t know how to continue it.

2.We spent three days to finish this complex experiment.
我們花了三天才完成這項復雜的實驗 。
四、terminate
terminate多強調因時間和空間的限制而終止，到了一定時間必須終止，是一個書面用語 。比如通知了九點到十一點開會，會議就必須在十一點結束，就用terminate 。另外，terminate還有解雇的意思，比如She was termined in last month. 她上個月被解雇了 。
1.We will not terminate contract untill the deadline.
只有到達期限時我們才會終止合同 。
2.The plane will terminate at Melbourne, Australia.
這架飛機的終點站是澳大利亞，墨爾本 。
五、conclude
這個詞比較正式，多指因為某事或者某個活動達到了預期目的而告終，比如conclude an agreement指達成協議 。conclude也有作結論、決定的意思 。英語作文中經常會用到類似To conclude……、In conclusion…….等詞組表示最后總結，最后結論 。
1.We conclude our meeting with Miss.Wang’s speech.
我們以王小姐的演講結束了會議 。
2.This movie concludes with the apart of leading actor and leading actress.
這部電影以男女主角的分開結束 。

這三個詞在意思上都表示，“做完了”，“結束了” 。但是在英語國家中，這些詞的使用上還是有些細微區別的 。今天就帶大家粗略的理解一下 。
一般來講，done都會用在具體的物件或者是事兒上，比如說"cooking is done(飯做好了)"，"work is done(工作做好了)";而finished更多用在人上，比如說"I have finished.(我好了 。)"
I am done 這種表達就好像“做”的對象是我，我被“做完”、“結束”，顯然你肯定想表達的不是這個意思 。如果你說我做(完)了，通常你會表達為"I do"或者"I did"，"I am done"聽起來就怪怪的了 。
"I am through" 更像是個俗語，意思是你已經完成了，像是" I am through the course"這句話，它是一個正確的語法用法，但是用起來又有點 "I am through with you"(我和你的關系結束了)，這里包含著不止是課程結束這一種結束，還有很多衍生的其他方面的結束 。這樣的表達并不是特別標準，但是還是被廣泛的運用了 。
