一、be 動詞做助動詞
助動詞be 有兩個基本用法，一是與謂語動詞一起構成各種時態，二是構成被動語態 。
“be + 現在分詞組”成各種進行式時態 。例如：
Tony's maid is washing his new car.
The children are playing in the field.
Samuel was eating when I came in.
We have been living here since 1959.
This time next day they will be sitting in the cinema.

二、注意事項
英語句子中，為了表達時態或被動語態的需要，常常會出現幾個助動詞連在一塊兒使用 。也就是說，助動詞be會和其它助動詞一起使用 。這時候，整個句子的一般疑問句和否定句，就不一定是對be 進行變化了，而是以第一個助動詞為主進行變化 。即哪個助動詞在先，就以它為主進行變化 。例如：
[肯定句] All the wonderful birds can be found in our Bird Park. (助動詞有兩個：can be )
[疑問句] Can all the wonderful birds be found in our Bird Park? (移第一個can)
[否定句] All the wonderful birds can not be found in our Bird Park. (在第一個can 后加not)
[肯定句] I have been there before. (兩個助動詞：have， been )
[疑問句] Have you been there before?
[否定句] I have not been there before.
[肯定句] I shall be having my supper at six tomorrow evening. (兩個助動詞：shall， be )
[疑問句] Will you be having my supper at six tomorrow evening?
[否定句] I shall not be having my supper at six tomorrow evening.
there being…的用法：
there being為there be的非謂語形式之一，它在句中主要用作狀語或作介詞賓語 。
■用作狀語
There being nothing else to do, we went home. 由于沒什么其他的事要干，所以我們就回家了 。
There having been no rain, the ground was dry. 由于沒有下雨，所以地面很干 。
【注】有時可與狀語從句轉換：
There being no further business , I declared the meeting closed. 由于沒有別的事了，我宣布閉會 。
As there was no further business, I declared the meeting closed. 由于沒有別的事了，我宣布閉會 。

■用作介詞賓語
There is now some hope of there being a settlement of the dispute. 現在有點希望可以解決這次爭端 。
there to be…的用法：
there to be 為 there be 的非謂語形式之一，它在句中主要用作狀語或介詞for的賓語 。
■用作動詞賓語
該結構可用作某些動詞(如like, prefer, hate, want, mean, intend, expect, consider 等)的賓語：
I don’t want there to be any misunderstanding. 我可不希望有任何誤解 。
Students hate there to be too much homework. 學生討厭做太多的家庭作業 。
We expect there to be more discussion about this. 我們期望能對此展開更多的討論 。
【注】在let there be句式中，動詞be不帶to：
Don’t let there be any noise. 不允許有任何吵鬧 。
Let there be no mistake about it. 這事不要出錯 。
■用作介詞for的賓語
They asked for there to be another meeting. 他們要求再開一次會議 。
【注】用作介詞賓語一般用there being，但用作介詞for的賓語時，只能用there to be 。比較：
They planned on there being another meeting. 他們打算再開一次會議 。
They planned there to be another meeting. 他們打算再開一次會議 。
含there be結構的幾類重要句式：
一、There is no / some / much / little difficulty / trouble with sth. 做某事(沒) 有困難
(1) There is some difficulty with the text. 這篇課文還有點困難 。
(2) There is little trouble with the matter. 這件事情沒有什么麻煩 。
二、There is no / some / little / much difficulty / trouble in + doing. 做某事有困難
(1) There is much difficulty in finishing the work in the given time. 在規定的時間內完成這項工作還很困難 。
(2) There is no trouble in reading the article without a dictionary. 即使不用詞典讀這篇文章也不難 。
三、There is no doubt about / of sth. 毫無疑問……
(1) There is no doubt about his coming here. 毫無疑問，他會來 。
(2) There is no doubt of his words. 對他的話毋庸置疑 。
四、There is no doubt that –clause. 毫無疑問……
(1) There is no doubt that he has made great progress this year. 毫無疑問，他今年進了大步 。
(2) There is no doubt that he likes hunting. 毫無疑問，他喜歡狩獵 。
五、There is no hurry (+ to do sth) 不用急于干某事
(1) There is no hurry to leave, for it is early. 天還早，不要急于離開 。
