A：We have settled the question of price, quality and quantity. Now I am calling to talk about the terms of payment. What are your terms of payment?

B：Well. We only accept the payment to be made by confirmed and irrevocable LC, payable against shipping documents.

A：Let's start out to discuss the question of payment terms.

B：l suppose you know very well that we require irrevocable letters of credit payable against presentation of shipping documents.

A:I fully understand your position. An irrevocable letter of credit ensures that the seller gets paid in time. But, on the other hand it would add to the buying costs. We’ve been, after all，trading partners for 3 years and you know us well. Can't you give us D/A or D/P?

A：We want the goods to be reinspected at the port of destination.

B：We won't object to it, but the goods shall be inspected by an organization acceptable to us.

A：How about Shanghai Commodity Inspection Bureau?
A:上海商檢局如何?
B：We respect it.

A：And if the goods are found not in conformity with that of the contract, we are entitled to lodge a claim with you or reject the goods.
A:如果發現貨物與合同規定不符,我們可以向你們提出索賠,或者拒絕接受貨物。
B：Yes. But your claim, if any, shall be lodged within 30 days after the arrival of the goods at the port of destination, and should be supported by surveyor's reports issued by a recognized surveyor approved by us.
B:是的。但是索賠期限為貨物的達目的港的30天內，而且須提供經我方同意的公證機構出具的檢驗報告。
A：We agree.

A:Hi,Mr. Wilson! What brings you here today?

B：Hi, Mr. Wu! Long time no see. I’ve come to register a trade mark.

A:It seems to me that you have put much more stress on trade mark registration now than before.

B：Yes. Our product, colour TV, sells welt in your market. In order to uphold our right and profits, we think it is high time to have it registered.

A：How right you are! As a saying goes, the trade mark is an inseparable part of the commodity and an intangible asset of an enterprise.

A ： With pleasure. When a foreign enterprise makes application for trade mark registration in China, he should entrust a representative from the Trademark Office of CCPIT to go through the formalities. Generally speaking，the following documents are needed：an application in duplicate，power of attorney in duplicate and a certificate of nationality.
A:可以。如果外國企業打算將其商標在中國注冊,他應委托中國國際貿易促進會的代理人代辦手續。一般來講，需要提供這些文件：申請書的副本，委托書的副本和國籍證書各一份。
B ： How long do we have to wait before we get the approval after handing in the application?

A： Not too long. The Trademark Office examines the application, issues preliminary approval and publishes the trade mark. All these will take two or three months.
