A:Well, we've settled the question of price, quality and quantity. Now what about the terms of payment?

:BWe only accept payment by irrevocable letter of credit payable against shipping documents.
我們只接受不可撤消的、憑裝運單據付款的信用證 。
A:I see. Could you make an exception and accept D/A or D/P?
我明白 。你們能不能破例接受承兌交單或付款交單?
B:I'm afraid not. We insist on a letter of credit.
恐怕不行,我們是堅決要求采用信用證付款 。
A:To tell you the truth, a letter of credit would increase the cost of my import. When I open a letter of credit with a bank, I have to pay a deposit. That'll tie up my money and increase my cost.
老實說,信用證會增加我方進口貨的成本 。要在銀行開立信用證,我得付一筆押金 。這樣會占壓我的資金,因而會增加成本 。
B:Consult your bank and see if they will reduce the required deposit to a minimum.
你和開證行商量一下,看他們能否把押金減少到最低限度 。
A:Still, there will be bank charges in connection with the credit. It would help me greatly if you would accept D/A or D/P. You can draw on me just as if there were a letter of credit. It makes no great difference to you, but it does to me.

A:We have settled the question of price, quality and quantity. Now I am calling to talk about the terms of payment. What are your terms of payment?

B:Well. We only accept the payment to be made by confirmed and irrevocable LC, payable against shipping documents.

A:I see. Payment by LC is the safest method, but could you make an exception and accept DA or DP?

B:I'm afraid not. That is our usual practice, because we are sure we will get the right amount of money that way.

A:What about the cost of delivery?

B:We would like to do it in accordance with an F.O.B.

My offer was based on reasonable profit,not on wild speculations([?spekju'lei??n]).
(10) 我們已經把價格壓到成本價了 。
We've kept the price close to the costs of production.
